One-Day Mystery Returns!

Merry Mayhem presents: Case #121 - Funky Lap Quilt
©2003 Merry May

Inspector Merry Mayhem's Mysteries make wonderful guild activities!

The Chat Room is down. We apologize, but due to technical difficulties, we have had to abandon our attempts to maintain a chat room for this event. We will try to find an alternate chat facility for our next one-day mystery.

Prize winners of the hourly door prizes can be found here!

PART 4: It's Not What You Think!

Go back and find the FOUR small 9-Patch blocks you made during Part 2. Using your 6 1/2" square rotary cutting ruler and referring to the photos at right, trim each of these blocks to exactly 4 1/2" square. One corner of the 6 1/2" square ruler should match one of the seams (as shown at right). The remaining 4 1/2" marks on the ruler should be aligned with additional seams.

It may be helpful to use masking tape to mark off the ruler at the 4 1/2" lines. It will make it a bit easier to find the correct spots on the ruler.

Follow the photo carefully, and be sure to trim them all exactly the same!

Next, trim each of your larger 9-Patch blocks to exactly 6 1/2" square, following the same procedure as above. This time the alignment should be a bit easier, because you can now match up each corner of your 6 1/2" square ruler with the seams.

At 2 p.m. Eastern Time GO ON TO PART 5!
