One-Day Mystery Returns!

Merry Mayhem presents: Case #121 - Funky Lap Quilt
©2003 Merry May

Inspector Merry Mayhem's Mysteries make wonderful guild activities!

The Chat Room is down. We apologize, but due to technical difficulties, we have had to abandon our attempts to maintain a chat room for this event. We will try to find an alternate chat facility for our next one-day mystery.

PART 2

Set aside FOUR of your 2 1/2" by WOF strips of Fabric A (light) until later.

Cut your remaining 2 1/2" strip of Fabric A in half to make TWO 2 1/2" by (about) 22" pieces. Then cut ONE of these 22" pieces in half again to make TWO 2 1/2" by (about) 11" pieces. You should now have THREE 2 1/2" wide strips: one should be about 22" long; the remaining two should be about 11" long.

Set aside FOUR of your 2 1/2" by WOF strips of Fabric B (medium) until later.

Cut the remaining 2 1/2" strip of Fabric B in half ONCE to make TWO 2 1/2" by (about) 22" strips.

Sew your Fabric B strips to both sides of your 2 1/2" by 22" Fabric A strip as shown in the diagram at right. Press seams toward the Fabric B strips. Then cut this pieced strip into EIGHT segments, each 2 1/2" by the width of the pieced section (should be about 6 1/2" wide).

Next, sew your TWO 2 1/2" by (about) 11" Fabric A strips to both sides of your 2 1/2" by 12" Fabric C (Dark #1) strip; press seams toward Fabric C. Cut into FOUR segments, each 2 1/2" by the width of the pieced section (should be about 6 1/2" wide).

Combine the above units to make FOUR 9-Patch blocks, matching seams. Each block should measure about 6 1/2" square, but don't worry about precision too much as far as the final size goes.
