What's Required to Upgrade to Electric Quilt 6?

Please be sure you read and understand this page before ordering the upgrade version of EQ6. Opened software is not returnable!

The Upgrade version of EQ6 is the same top-of-the-line software described on the EQ6 Overview page, with same user manual. The only difference is that the upgrade CD requires EQ5 to be installed on the computer. If you are currently a registered EQ5 user, and have the program installed on your machine, then you may purchase and install the upgrade version. The upgrade will not read the EQ5 installation CD in order to install.

In addition it is important to note that EQ6 (both the upgrade and regular versions) requires the Windows XP or higher operating system. You must also have internet access to activate the program and a CD-ROM drive for installation.

General System Requirements:

• Windows® XP or Vista
• Internet access for activation (4 activations included)
• CD-ROM drive
• monitor with screen resolution of 1024 x 768 or greater
• sound card recommended for demo videos

Additional Requirements for EQ5 to EQ6 Upgrade:

• EQ5 must be installed for the installation to work.

Frequently Asked Questions

If I buy the EQ6 upgrade by mistake, and can’t install it because I don’t have EQ5, can I return it?

No. The EQ6 upgrade is not returnable.

You can exchange your EQ6 Upgrade CD for the regular EQ6 CD and pay the price difference plus a small restocking fee. Contact The Electric Quilt Company (no matter who you originally purchased your EQ6 Upgrade from) at customerservice@electricquilt.com (1-800-356-4219 M-F EST).

I lost my EQ5 CD, and now have a new computer. EQ5 is not on my new computer. Would I need to pay full price for EQ6?

If you are a registered EQ5 user, and have your EQ5 serial number, you can contact Electric Quilt  to purchase a replacement EQ5 CD. Then you can install EQ5 on your new computer and use the upgrade version of EQ6. Contact The Electric Quilt Company at customerservice@electricquilt.com (1-800-356-4219 M-F EST).

Will I be able to use my EQ5 projects in EQ6?

Yes. You can import blocks and quilts from any previous EQ project in a really easy way, then just copy and paste them into your My Library (User Library).

Will all my other EQ Company software, like BlockBase, Dear Jane and the Classic Applique blocks link with EQ6?

Yes.

I have EQ4. Can I use the EQ6 Upgrade CD?

No. Because you only have EQ4 on your computer, the installation will not be able to find EQ5 and EQ6 will not install. Registered EQ4 users may call the EQ office to purchase EQ6 at a discounted price.

I have EQ1, 2, or 3 can get a discount?

No. We're sorry, but your software is 10-15 years old. You will need to get the complete EQ6 program at its full price.
