Section 11 Patch Can Can
(Make one 12" block before the added top yellow border)


(A) Black
Cut 4 squares 2 18/2
Cut 8 squares 2 7/8", cut once diagonally

(D) Yellow
Cut 6 squares 2 7/8", cut once diagonally

Cut 1 rectangle 1 1/2" x 12 1/2"

(F) Blue
Cut 4 squares 2 1/2"
Cut 14 squares 2 7/8", cut once diagonally

Assembly & Block Construction of Patch Can Can
1.      Sew one (A) Black and one (F) Blue HST together as shown in diagram 1.
2.      Repeat 3 more times for a total of 4 units.
3.      Sew one (F) Blue and one (D) Yellow HST together as shown in diagram 2.
4.      Repeat Step 3 two more times for a total of 3 units.
5.      Referring to the diagram for the block sew the rows together as shown.
6.      Press and set aside.
7.      Repeat Steps 1 thru 6 three more times for a total of 4 block units.
8.      Referring to the block diagram sew all the blocks together as shown.
9.      Press. Measurement check  Block should measure 12 1/2
10.     Once all the blocks have been sewn together sew one (D) Yellow 1
1/2 x 12 1/2" rectangle to the top of the block.


Section 11 Filler Checkerboard
(Make one 4" x 8" block)

(A) Black
Cut 4 squares 2 1/2"

(C) Red
Cut 4 squares 2 1/2"

1.      Referring to picture sew one (1) Red (C) square to one (1) Black (A) square.
2.      Repeat three more times for a total of 4 units..
3.      Lay the units out referring to the block picture and sew the units together.
4.      Press and set aside.
5.      Section should measure 4 1/2" x 8 1/2"


Section 11 Friendship Star Framed
(Make one 8" block)

(A) Black
Cut 4 squares 2 1/2"
Cut 2 squares 2 7/8", cut once diagonally

(B) Green
Cut 1 square 2 1/2"
Cut 2 squares 2 7/8", cut once diagonally

(D) Yellow
Cut 2 rectangles 1 1/2" x 6 1/2"
Cut 2 rectangles 1 1/2" x 8 1/2"


1.      Sew one (1) Black (A) HST to one (1) Green (B) HST. Refer to
diagram 1 for placement.
2.      Repeat Step 1 three more time for a total of 4 units.
3.      Refer to block construction diagram to sew the rows together
complete the Friendship Star block.
4.      Referring to Diagram 2 sew one (D) Yellow 1 1/2" x 6 1/2" rectangle
to the right and left sides of the Friendship Star.
5.      Press.
6.      Referring to Diagram 3 sew one (D) Yellow 1 1/2" x 8 1/2" rectangle
to the top and bottom of the block.
7.      Press and your block is complete.
8.      Measurement check - block should measure 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" square.


Section 11 Snowball Filler Block
(Make two 3" blocks)

(A) Black
Cut 8 squares 1 7/8"

(C) Red
Cut 2 squares 3 1/2"



Assembly & Block Construction of the Snowball
1.        Lay one (A) Black square on the upper left corner of the (C)
Red Square. See Diagram 1a for placement. On
          the back of the (A) Black square draw a line from the upper
right hand corner to the lower left hand corner.
           Sew on this line. Press corner to the top of the Red Block.
2.         Repeat this process for all corners referring the diagram
for each corner.
3.         Press and set aside.
4.         Measurement Check - Block should measure 3 1/2"
5.        Repeat Steps 1 thru 4 one more time for a total of 2
          Snowball blocks.

Section 11 Filler X Block
(Make two 3" blocks)


(A) Black
Cut 1 square 4 3/16", cut twice diagonally

(B) Green
Cut 1 square 4 3/16", cut twice diagonally
Assembly & Block Construction of the Filler X Block



1.      Sew (1) one (A) Black HST and (1) one (B) Green HST as shown
in Diagram 1.
2.      Repeat one more time for a total of 2.
3.      Sew the 2 units together as shown in Diagram.
4.      Press. Block should measure 3 1/2"
5.      Repeat Steps 1 thru 4 one more time for a total of two Filler X Blocks.


      ***** Sew the Snowball filler blocks and the Filler X blocks together as
                 shown in color picture. ******


Assembly for Section 11
Finished block size is 12" x 24"
Referring to the color photo sew your blocks together as shown
