Section 10 Darting Birds
(Make one 12" block)


(A) Black
Cut 3 squares 2 1/2"
Cut 6 squares 2 7/8", cut once diagonally
Cut 4 squares 2"

(B) Green
Cut 1 square 3 7/8", cut once diagonally
Cut 2 squares 2 1/2"

(C) Red
Cut 3 squares 2 7/8", cut once diagonally

(D) Yellow
Cut 3 squares 3 7/8", cut once diagonally
Cut 6 squares 2 1/2"
Cut 2 squares 2"
Cut 1 square 3 7/8", cut once diagonally

(F) Blue
Cut 6 squares 2 1/2"
Cut 1 square 3 7/8", cut once diagonally

Assembly & Block Construction of Darting Birds


1.      Sew (1) one (A) Black HST and (1) one (C) Red HST together as shown
in Diagram 1.
2.      Repeat one more time for a total of 2 units.
3.      Sew (1) one (A) Black HST and (1) one (D) Yellow HST together as shown in Diagram 2.
4.      Report one more time for a total of 2 units.
5.      Press and set aside.
6.      Referring to Block Construction diagram lay the blocks out to form rows.
7.      Sew the rows together to complete your block.
8.      Measurement check  Block should measure 6 1/2
9.      Repeat Steps 1 thru 8 two more times for a total of 3 blocks. Press
and set aside.


10.     Part 2 of the Darting Birds Block. Sew (1) one (A) Black HST and (1) one (B) Green HST together. See Diagram 3 for placement.
11.     Sew (1) one (A) Black HST and (1) one (D) Yellow HST together as shown in diagram 4.
12.     Press and set aside.
13.     Sew (1) one (D) Yellow 2" square and (1) one (A) Black 2" square as shown in diagram 5.
14.     Repeat Step 13 one more time for 2 units and sew together as shown in diagram 5.
15.     Lay the units out as shown in Block Construction. Sew the rows together to complete the block.
16.     Lay all four blocks out as shown in the color diagram. Sew blocks into rows and sew rows together.
17.     Press. Measurement check - block should measure 12 1/2"

Section 10 Friendship Star
(Make one 6" block)

(A) Black
Cut 4 squares 2 1/2"
Cut 2 square  2 7/8", cut once diagonally

(E) Purple
Cut 1 square 2 1/2"
Cut 2 squares 2 7/8", cut once diagonally

1.      Sew one (1) Black (A) HST to one (1) Purple (E) HST. Refer to diagram 1 for placement.
2.      Repeat Step 1 three more time for a total of 4 units.
3.      Lay the blocks into rows as shown in Diagram 2.
4.      Sew the rows together to complete your block.
5.      Measurement check - block should measure 6 1/21 square.


Section 10 Filler Block Snowball
(Make on 3" block)

(A) Black
Cut 4 squares 1 7/8"

(C) Red
Cut 1 square 3 1/2"

Assembly & Block Construction of the Filler Block Snowball


1.      Lay one (A) Black square on the upper left corner of the (C) Red Square. See Diagram 1a for placement. On the back of the (A) Black
square draw a line from the upper right hand corner to the lower left hand corner. Sew on this line. Press corner to the top of the Red
Block.
2.      Repeat this process for all corners referring the diagram for each corner.
3.      Press and set aside.
4.      Measurement Check - Block should measure 3 1/2"


Section 10 Filler Block X
(Make one 3" block)

(A) Black
Cut 1 square 4 3/16", cut twice diagonally
you will have 2 pieces left

(B) Green
Cut 1 square 4 3/16", cut twice diagonally
you will have 2 pieces left



1.      Sew (1) one (A) Black HST and (1) one (B) Green HST as shown in Diagram 1.
2.      Repeat one more time for a total of 2.
3.      Sew the 2 units together as shown in Diagram.
4.      Press. Block should measure 3 1/2"


Section 10 Wild Geese
(Make one 3" x 6" block)

(A) Black
Cut 6 rectangles 2 1/2 x 3 1/2"

(B) Green
Cut 3 rectangles 2" x 3 1/2"



1.      Lay (1) one (A) Black rectangle onto one (B) Green rectangle as
shown in Diagram 1.
2.      On the back of the Black rectangle draw a line from the upper left
hand corner to the lower left hand corner. Sew on this line.
3.      Trim the excess and press Black open.
4.      Lay (1) one (A) Black rectangle to the other side of the block just sewn.
5.      Draw a line from the upper left hand corner to the lower right hand
corner as shown in Diagram 2.
6.      Trim and press.
7.      Repeat Steps 1 thru 6 (2) two more times for a total of 3 units.
8.      Lay the units out as shown in Block Construction diagram.
9.      Sew the blocks together.
10.     Press. Block should measure 3 1/2" x 6 1/2"


Putting it all together
1.      Referring to the color diagram lay all the blocks out as shown.
2.      Sew the blocks together.
3.      Press. Your block is complete
4.      Block should measure 12 1/2" x 18 1/2"
