Individual Block instructions

Section 9 – Mosiac Wheel

(Make one 12" block)


(A) Black
Cut 8 squares 3 7/8", cut once diagonally

(B) Green
Cut 2 squares 3 7/8", cut once diagonally

(C) Red
Cut 1 square 3 7/8", cut once diagonally

(D) Yellow
Cut 2 squares 3 7/8", cut once diagonally

(E) Purple
Cut 2 squares 3 7/8", cut once diagonally

(F) Blue
Cut 2 squares 3 7/8", cut once diagonally


Assembly & Block Construction of Mosiac Wheel

1) Sew (1) one (A) Black HST and (1) one (D) Yellow HST together as
shown in Diagram 1.

2) Repeat three more times for a total of 4 units.

3) Press and set aside.

4) Repeat Steps 1 thru 3 for (B) Green, (E) Purple HST’s.

5) Repeat Steps 1 thru 3 for (C) Red and (F) Blue. Only repeat one
more time for a total of 2 units.

6) Referring to Block Construction diagram lay the blocks out to form rows.

7) Sew the rows together to complete your block.

8) Measurement check –  Block should measure 12 1/2”



Section 9 – Filler Checkerborad

(Make one 4" x 8" block)

(C) Red

Cut 4 squares 2 1/2"

(E) Purple

Cut 4 squares 2 1/2"

1. Referring to picture sew one (1) Red (C) square to one (1) Purple (E) square.

2. Repeat three more times for a total of 4 units..

3. Lay the units out referring to the block picture and sew the units together.

4. Press and set aside.

5. Section should measure 4 1/2" x 8 1/2"



Section 9 – Double X

(Make one 8" block)


(A) Black

Cut 4 squares 2 1/2"

Cut 5 squares 2 7/8", cut once diagonally

(B) Green

Cut 2 squares 2 7/8", cut once diagonally

(C) Red

Cut 1 square 2 7/8", cut once diagonally

Cut 1 square 4 7/8" cut once diagonally (you will have one HST left over)

(D) Yellow

Cut 1 square 2 7/8", cut once diagonally

Cut 1 square 4 7/8" cut once diagonally (you will have one HST left over)



1. Sew one (1) Black (A) HST to one (1) Green (B) HST. Refer to
diagram 1 for placement.

2. Repeat Step 1 three more time for a total of 4 units.

3. Referring to diagram 2 sew one (1) Black (A) 2 ½" square to one of
the units from Step 1.

4. Repeat one more time for a total of 2 units.

5. Sew these two units together as shown in Diagram 2.

6. Press and Set aside.

7. Repeat Steps 3 thru 6 one more time for a total of 2 square units.

8. Sew one (1) Black (A) HST to one (D) Yellow HST. See diagram 3 for placement.

9. Referring to Diagram 4 sew one (1) Black HST to the left hand side
of the unit just sewn in Step 8.

10. To the unit just sewn sew one (1) Black (A) HST to the right hand
side, See diagram 5 for placement.

11. Sew one (1) Yellow (D) HST to the angle edge of unit sewn in Step
5. See diagram 6 for placement.

12. Repeat Steps 8 thru 11 using color (C) Red in place of the Yellow (D).

13. Refer to the block picture to sew your block together.

14. Measurement check - block should measure 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" square.


Section 4 – July Summer Sky

(Make three 4" blocks)

 (B) Green

Cut one square 5 1/4" then cut twice diagonally

(D) Yellow

Cut one square 5 1/4" then cut twice diagonally

(F) Blue

Cut 2 squares 4 7/8", cut once diagonally

Assembly & Block Construction of the July Summer Sky


1. With RST sew (1) one (D) Yellow quarter square triangle (QST) to
(1) one (B) Green quarter square triangle (QST).  Repeat 2 more times
for a total of 3.  See diagram 1 for placement.  Press.

2. Sew (1) one (F) Blue HST to (1) one Unit sewn in Step 1.  See
diagram 2  for placement.

3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 two more times for a total of (3) three July
Summer Sky Blocks.

4. Measurement Check - Blocks should measure 4 1/2" x 4 1/2"

5. Referring to diagram 3 sew the July Summer Sky blocks together.

6. Measurement Check - Blocks should measure 4 1/2" x 12 1/2 "

7. Press and set aside.

Assembly for Section 9


Finished block size is 12" x 20"

Referring to the color photo sew your blocks together as follows

1. Sew the blocks remaining blocks together as shown in the diagram.

2. Press and your section is complete.

3. Check your measurement.  This block should measure 12 1/2" x 20 1/2".
