Individual Block instructions
Section 7 Center Star
(Make one 18" block with borders added)

(A) Black
2 rectangles 1 1/2" x 15 1/2" (block border)
2 rectangles 1 1/2" x 18 1/2" (block border)
4 squares 3"
4 squares 3 3/8", cut once diagonally
1 square 6 1/4", cut twice diagonally

(B) Green
4 squares 3"
4 squares 3 3/8", cut once diagonally

(C) Red
1 square 6 1/4", cut twice diagonally

(D) Yellow
4 squares 3 3/8", cut once diagonally
1 square 5 1/2"

(F) Blue
4 squares 3 3/8", cut once diagonally


Assembly & Block Construction of Center Star



1. Sew (1) one (A) Black half-square triangle (HST) to (1) one (B) Green HST. See diagram 1 for placement.

2. Repeat Step 1 (7) seven more times for a total of (8) eight Green 7 Black HST squares.

3. Referring to diagram 2 sew (1) one (A) Black 3" square to one Green & Black HST squares.

4. Repeat Step 3 three more times for a total of (4) four units.

5. Referring to diagram 2 sew (1) Green & Black HST square to one (B) Green 3" square.

6. Repeat three more times for a total of 4 units.

7. Sew the units from Step 3 and Step 5 together as shown in diagram 2. You should have 4 completed units now.

8. Referring to diagram 3 sew (1) one (D) Yellow HST to each side of (A) Black quarter-square tirangle (QST).

9. Repeat Step 8 three more times for a total of four units. Press and set aside.

10. Referring to diagram 4 sew (1) one (F) Blue HST to each side of (C) Red QST.

11. Repeat Step 10 three more times for a total of four units. Press and set aside.

12. Referring to diagram 5 sew the units from Step 8 and 10 together. Repeat three more times for a total of four units.

13. Lay out all the blocks using the Block diagram and sew together as shown.
14. Adding borders.....Sew (1) one 1 1/2 x 15 1/2" rectangle to the top and bottom of the block. Press.

15. Sew the remaining border strips (1 1/2" x 18 1/2") to each side of the block. Press and your block is complete.
