Individual Block instructions


Section 3 Country Farm

(Make one 12" block)

(A) Black
Cut 4 squares 4 1/2"
Cut 1 square 5 1/4" then cut twice diagonally

(C) Red
Cut 2 squares 5 1/4" then cut twice diagonally

(D)Yellow
Cut 2 squares 2 7/8", cut once diagonally
Cut 2 squares 2 1/2"

(F) Blue
Cut 2 squares 2 7/8", cut once diagonally
Cut 2 squares 2 1/2"

Assembly & Block Construction of Country Farm

1. Sew one Black (A) QST to one Ree (C) QST. See diagram 1. Press and set aside.

2. Repeat Step 1 three (3) more times for a total of 4 units.

3. Sew one Blue (F) HST to one Yellow (D) HST. See Diagram 2, Unit 1 for placement. Press and label Unit 1.

4. Repeat Step 3 one (1) more time for a total of 2 Unit 1's.

5. Sew one Yellow (D) HST to one Blue (F) HST. See Diagram 2, Unit 2 for placement. Press and label Unit 2.

6. Repeat Step 3 one (1) more time for a total of 2 Unit 2's.

7. Referring to Diagram 3 Unit 3 sew one Red (C) QST to one Unit 1. Press and label Unit 3.

8. Repeat Set 7 one (1) more time for a total of 2 Unit 3's.

9. Referring to Diagram 3 Unit 4 sew one Red (C) QST to one Unit 2. Press and label Unit 4.

10. Repeat Set 9 one (1) more time for a total of 2 Unit 4's.

11. Sew one Unit from Step 1 to one Unit 3. See diagram 4a for placement. Press and label Unit 5.

12. Repeat Step 11 one (1) more time for a total of 2 Unit 5's.

13. Measurement check Unit should measure 4 1/2"

14. Sew one Unit from Step 1 to one Unit 4. See diagram 4b for placement. Press and label Unit 6.

15. Repeat Step 11 one (1) more time for a total of 2 Unit 6's.

16. Measurement check Unit should measure 4 1/2"

17. Sew one Blue (F) 2 1/2 square to one Yellow (D) 2 1/2" square. See diagram 5 for placement.

18. Repeat Step 17 one more time for a total of 2 units. Press.

19. Referring to Diagram 6 sew the units from Step 18 together to create a Four Patch.


Referring to Block Construction diagram do the following:

Lay the Units out into rows.

Sew rows together.

Sew each row together to complete your block.

Press and your block is complete!

Measurement check Block should measure 12 1/2




Assembly & Block Construction of the Stripe Filler Block
Section 3 Stripe Filler Block
(Make two 6" blocks)

(A) Black
Cut 4 rectangles 2" x 6 1/2"

(D) Yellow
Cut 2 rectangles 2" x 6 1/2"

(E) Purple
Cut 2 rectangles 2" x 6 1/2"

Assembly & Block Construction of the Stripe Filler (INSERT diagram 03_stripe_filler_diagram)
1. Sew one Black (A) rectangle to one Yellow (D) Rectangle. See diagram 1 for placement.

2. Sew one Purple (E) rectangle to one Black (A) Rectangle. See diagram 2 for placement.

3. Referring to Block Construction diagram sew the two units together. Press and set aside.


4. Measurement check - Block should measure 6 1/2" x 6 1/2"


5. Repeat Steps 1 thru 3 one more time for a total of 2 Stripe Filler Blocks.




Section 3 Friendship Star 1
(Make one 6" block)

(B) Green
Cut 2 squares 2 7/8", cut once diagonally

(E) Purple
Cut 1 square 2 1/2"
Cut 2 squares 2 7/8", cut once diagonally

(F) Blue
Cut 4 squares 2 7/8", cut once diagonally


Assembly & Block Construction of the Friendship Star (INSERT diagram 03_friendship_star_diagram)

1. Sew (1) one (B) Green HST and one Blue (F) HST together as shown in diagram 1.

2. Measurement check Block should measure 2 1/2" square

3. Repeat three (3) more times for a total of 4 units.

4. Sew (1) one Blue (F) HST and one Purple (E) HST together as shown in diagram 2.

5. Measurement check Block should measure 2 1/2" square

6. Repeat three (3) more times for a total of 4 units.

7. Lay your blocks out in rows and sew rows together as show in the Block Construction diagram.

8. Measurement Check - Block should measure 6 1/2"

9. Press and set aside.



Section 3 Friendship Star 2

(Make one 6" block)

(A) Black
Cut 2 squares 2 7/8", cut once diagonally

(E) Purple
Cut 1 square 2 1/2"
Cut 2 squares 2 7/8", cut once diagonally

(F) Blue
Cut 4 squares 2 7/8", cut once diagonally


Assembly & Block Construction of the Friendship Star #2 (INSERT diagram 03_friendship_star_2_diagram)

1. Sew (1) one (A) Black HST and one Blue (F) HST together as shown in diagram 1.

2. Measurement check Block should measure 2 1/2" square

3. Repeat three (3) more times for a total of 4 units.

4. Sew (1) one Blue (F) HST and one Purple (E) HST together as shown in diagram 2.

5. Measurement check Block should measure 2 1/2" square

6. Repeat three (3) more times for a total of 4 units.

7. Lay your blocks out in rows and sew rows together as show in the Block Construction diagram.

8. Measurement Check - Block should measure 6 1/2"

9. Press and set aside.


Assembly for Section 3 (INSERT 03_section_blocks)

Finished block size is 12" x 24"

Referring to the diagram sew your blocks together as follows (INSERT diagram 03_section_diagram)

1. Sew one Strip Filler Block to Friendship Star Block 1. See diagram for placement.

2. Sew Friendship Star Block 2 to one Stripe Filler Block. See diagram forplacement.

3. Sew the two rows sewn in Steps 1 and 2 together.

4. To the bottom of the Country Farm Block sew the row from Step 3.

5. Press and your block is complete.

6. Check your measurement. This block should measure 12 1/2" x 24 1/2".
